BRIEF: Valley Santa: Overwhelmed mother seeks Christmas gifts for kids

Citizens' Voice, The (Wilkes-Barre, PA) - 11/26/2014

Nov. 26--Charlotte, a single mother of four children, suffers from depression, social anxiety and panic disorder and has undergone surgeries for damage to her lower back.

She has not been able to keep a job and her children do without things.

"We manage to get by, but barely," Charlotte wrote in a letter to Valley Santa. Charlotte asked for Valley Santa's help in providing Christmas presents for her two children under age 12 who qualify for the program. Valley Santa needs donations to purchase Christmas gifts for children in need.

"I am responsible for everything within my household and I just can't seem to catch up," Charlotte wrote.

She already receives help from other organizations, mainly the Head Start program, which provided her resources and support. She has been without a car since May since she does not have the money to get it fixed.

"I continuously put bills off to purchase food and household necessities," she wrote. "I am trying to figure out some way to make my life a little less overwhelming."
