She’s not out yet so I suppose this review is a little ahead of itself but so far I have seen nothing but kindness in my mother’s treatment. I cannot imagine what if must be like to deal with people who are not themselves and in this kind of crisis every day. Thank you for your accesibilty and compassion.

No one wants to go through this with their child, the staff has been understanding and caring. Therapist and doctor wonderful with explaining the process and treatment options. Everyone has been really good even when our child is manic and very rude. Their kindness and understanding has made us feel not so alone in this.

My daughter calls to tell me they did not give her the meds she needs, they say meds were given & treat her like she just doesn’t know what she is talking about. She goes to nurse to ask if she can have heart meds since vitals are needed for that. Nurse looks and WOW, my daughter’s meds are there, never given! How is this right? How could a nurse have signed off saying she gave?

I have had the opportunity to visit patients in St. Joe's BSU and Packer and they don't even compare. Packer treats their patients with respect and genuinely cares for them; St. Joe's--- there are no words. This place needs to be shut down and every worker and doctor there should be committed. They need to experience for one day what they put fellow human beings through. Shame on you, St. Joe's BSU.

I am really disappointed at some behavior and comments expressed by a couple of the nursing staff at the BSU. Its quite obvious that this is just a job for them, and not one that they have chosen out of compassion for people experiencing some of the darkest moments of their life.
Lack of treatment

From admission of a family member, they obviously release people too soon, now on a second admission are not addressing his underlying issues. This is after an admission to a different hospital in between these two! He has called obviously overmedicated. I have never seen his episodes go on this long (over a month), so someone isn't addressing the issue or isn't paying attention. They may have no clue of a baseline, but never consult with anyone either.

No staff has called “family” to find out why she’s there for 5 days now. How do you change behavior when you have no clue what the past two years were like?

I was just released from here, because I had a severe depression episode. All they did was take me OFF one med, and told me to attend their group therapy. The “group therapy “ is a joke. They discuss certain topics, but people are unable to share why they are there, what’s bothering them, etc, because the focus is on one topic. They do not offer individual therapy sessions, either. They don’t even offer therapeutic activities such as meditation, art etc. You are doped up, and locked up like a prisoner. No cell phones, no privacy, only half hour visits with a family member, and ten minute phone calls, with only two phones available. My step son was in prison and was treated BETTER! I currently have some mobility issues and my dr has me using an ankle brace and sneakers. Well, they wouldn’t ALLOW me to wear the brace or the sneakers because they had laces on them. I asked them several times if they would at least allow my fiancé to bring in my orthopedic boot so I could wear t

My niece has been in there now for 4 days, i have called to speak with her several times and get told she is sleeping , not feeling well, but will not answer questions. No one knows what is going on with her ,they do not contact me anyone to give any kind of update. For 2 days am told either sleeping or not feeling well. That's it no more. Very unprofessional, caring, symptomatic, does not keep informed of situation.....very very disappointed!!!
